Who Is Tail & Tiller

Tail & Tiller started with a dog named Bo Jack and the bond I realized dogs create with us through every stage of life.
During my time at Fort Benning training to become an infantryman in the Minnesota Army National Guard, there were long stretches away from home where life felt stripped down to the basics. Out of everything I missed, I missed my dog the most. That experience made me realize how much comfort, stability, and loyalty a dog can bring into someone’s life. Dogs are more than pets — they become companions through hardship, routine, stress, and some of life’s most defining moments.
As Bo Jack has gotten older, I’ve started seeing his health decline in ways that made me wish I had done more earlier to support his long-term health and nutrition. That led me down a path of researching the pet food industry, ingredient quality, and the differences between heavily processed kibble and fresh, human-grade nutrition. The more I learned, the more I realized how much better dogs can thrive on real food made from high-quality ingredients — meals designed to support healthier digestion, stronger energy levels, healthier coats, and potentially longer, healthier lives.
That realization became the foundation for Tail & Tiller — not just to create better food, but to build a company centered around the relationship between dogs and people.
We believe dogs spend their entire lives serving us through companionship, protection, emotional support, and unconditional loyalty. Tail & Tiller exists to give something meaningful back. That’s why a portion of every subscription helps support adoption centers, animal shelters, rescue organizations, and service dog training programs working to change lives every single day.
Whether it’s helping a rescue dog find a home, supporting organizations training service dogs for veterans and families in need, or simply helping more dogs live healthier lives through better nutrition, our mission is rooted in one belief: the bond between dogs and people is real, powerful, and worth investing in.
This company is built for the dogs that have always shown up for us — and for the organizations dedicating their lives to doing the same.
